Sign of Good Things to Come
On the 25th of September, Mario Alfaro and Jorge Vargas
placed a new sign at the front of the Mission Point Resource Center
main offices in Catacamas, Olancho, Honduras.
The original sign was made to be inside a plate glass window, so could not
stand the sunlight and rain for which Catacamas is noted.
This sign is replacing our original sign.
It is made of metal and was designed and painted by hand by Mario Alfaro.
It continues our theme of being a light to the world unto salvation.
We are very pleased with the new sign and hope it draws good attention from
passersby.
Teacher Training Scheduled
The next Teacher Training class has been scheduled for those who took the first class.
It is being taught by evangelist and staff member, Mario Alfaro.
Please see the Teacher Training Section for more information.
Teacher Training
Mario Alfaro, a graduate of
Baxter Institute
in Tegucigalpa,
has been the instructor for the teacher training classes.
For 3 hours each, on 3 separate Saturdays, he is sharing unique ways
of capturing the children's
attention and helping them remember
the Bible truths they learn by using puppets and other visual reinforcements;
such as a 9' tall Goliath that is available for loan to congregations.
Mario´s first class was well attended with 17 people in his class.
He will have two more classes with the same students.
The second class is scheduled for Sat., Sept. 6, from 9 until noon.
It will only be open to those who attended the first class.
Jenny Funez
This 18 year old sister, from
Aguaquire,
Olancho, Honduras (near Dulce Nombre de Culmí or just Culmí),
was expecting her second child when she died suddenly
Monday, 22nd of September, 2008.
Her child, Jorge Samuel, survived the death of his mother,
but was not doing well.
We are glad to report that, as of Sept. 29, the baby is doing much better.
[But then, within 2 days, he started to get much worse.
You can read the full story at
Jorge Samuel].
The father, an agricultural worker, works 2 hours away
from the family farther up in the mountains from Aguaquire.
We give thanks to generous support from the Hunter Hills congregation
near Montgomery, AL and the congregations in Mt. Pleasant, TX.
Because of these brothers and sisters, the family was able to buy a coffin.
Please pray for this young family.
The father is Jorge, the baby (born 22 September) is Jorge Samuel, and the older sister, Cristy Joanna, is 11 months old (as of September).
